Macadamia Hair Food on Dry and Wavy Hair

It works well for dry or frizzy hair types like mine, leaving hair soft and manageable. However, when used as a leave-in, it can feel heavy and may not absorb fully, even for my hair. It works better on ends rather than mid-lengths, and I found that applying a small amount to towel-dried hair rather than wet hair helps with absorption.
As a conditioner or mask, it delivers great results, leaving my hair feeling deeply nourished and easy to detangle. Smoothing Macadamia Hair Food
This product is advertised as one that can be used in 3 different ways: conditioner, hair mask or leave-in treatment. I never used this as a leave-in, however I did use as both a conditioner and hair mask, but found that the most beneficial use of this for my hair was as a hair mask.
The best thing about this product is the fantastic macadamia fragrance – it smells divine and I also found that the fragrance was long-lasting and that I could still catch whiffs of it throughout the next day!
The product is thick, but not too thick and was easy to apply throughout the lengths of my hair. I have long, thick hair and did find that I needed a generous amount, however as this is so reasonably priced I was more than happy to oblige!
As a conditioner, I didn’t really notice any significant difference to my hair. As a mask, I found that my hair was softer and more manageable and easier to style.

totally worth it!
this hair food it’s totally amazing and so worth it. i have wavy-curly hair that is long, thick and dry and it does wonders. for the days where i can’t be bothered with my hair, i just dampen my hair a little and run some of this through and it looks like i have just washed my hair. i also love using this product to style my hair and give my curls some extra definition. its also great as conditioner but isn’t as hydrating was what i would like (for someone with normal hair type it would be amazing as a conditioner). however it is great as a hair mask before and after conditioner- depending on what you are after. it is also super affordable and always seems to be on sale at woolworths or coles. it comes in a big container and lasts ages, even for me who has a lot of hair.

After really enjoying the Nourishing Banana Hair Food i wanted to try more of the range. With a beautifully and bursting sweet scent the hair food is a light mushroom colour, I love the medium to thick consistency of the Smoothing Macadamia Hair Food.
While in the shower to use this as a conditioner/hair mask after shampooing I apply around the size of a 20c piece to my mid length and ends and leave this in while I’m washing my face and body etc. After rinsing this out my hair felt really nourished, smooth and soft. It makes my hair very easy to style and run my brush through my hair. I also love using this in my hair after I have washed it as a leave in conditioner and a great way of using it I have discovered it is fantastic at keeping my flyaways at bay Especially when I have a pony tail which is most days I add a pea sized amount to my fingertips and run it over my hair, keeps my hair looking neat, healthy and moisturised. I would recommend this hair food to those with dry, thick and frizzy hair like me.

Worked best as a pre-wash mask
Background: I have mid to long length hair, thick, wavy, prone to frizz.
This product is recommended for use in 3 ways, as a conditioner, a hair mask, or a leave-in cream. I tried using it as a conditioner but I was finding it didn’t seem to be providing the hydration my hair needed, with my hair tending to be drier/frizzier/less smooth.
However! I then tried using it as a pre-wash mask. I have been using a generous amount, combing it through and leaving it on my hair (mid lengths to ends) for anywhere from 30mins to a few hours, before I then wash my hair as per normal (shampoo and conditioner). This was the best way for this product to work with my hair. I’ve been finding that even though I rinse it out before I shampoo, it seems to stop the shampoo stripping too much moisture from my mid lengths to ends. If I use this as a mask before my shower I’m finding that my hair ends up smoother, less dry, and (depending on the weather) less frizzy afterwards – with me changing nothing else about my haircare routine.
I’ve purchased my second tub recently so I can continue to use this as a pre-wash hair mask – I think it’s worthwhile for the results especially as it is often on sale (40-50% off).
